by Richard Stump on Common Core in California
I have been told by those in the legal profession that if five per cent (5%) of parents OPT OUT their children (which is their right to do) from Common Core Testing, the school is required (by Common Core’s own rules) to stop the testing.
As I guess you all know, there are good things in the Common Core program, but those things can be implemented by a school district WITHOUT resorting to the things parents are concerned about.
There are TWO BIG PROBLEMS WITH COMMON CORE TESTING:
#1) There is too much of it! Which takes away from instruction time. And it almost ‘forces’ teachers to ‘teach to the test’ because the TEACHERS ARE BEING EVALUATED ON THE RESULTS OF THESE TESTS.
#2) Included among the ‘usual’ questions you might expect on tests, the Common Core mandate requires PSYCHO-METRIC testing!
What is ‘psycho-metric testing’? These are questions designed to learn the student’s FEELINGS and TENDENCIES. These questions have nothing to do with the subject being tested but they are included in EVERY TEST the student takes from Kindergarten to 12th Grade.
The information gained in ‘psycho-metric testing’ is sent to the federal ‘government’ where it will stored and analyzed thereby creating a LIFETIME PROFILE of the person which can be used by the ‘government’ in granting or refusing anything it wishes.
Like admission into the armed forces.
Admission into elite universities.
Selection for particular employment.
The ‘government’ has no restriction in sharing this information with anyone it chooses. Which can lead to
Lost employment opportunities.
Blocking career choices.
Blocking education choices.
The concerns about Common Core testing are many, but I promised I would keep these emails short.
Therefore: if you have any specific questions, please send them to me.
PS: Thanks to all of you who have sent in questions and information!
