Crime wave coming due to the passage of Prop. 47?

Thanks to the passage of Prop. 47, California may very well experience what only can be described as a crime wave that will soon sweep the state!

Proposition 47 was the George Soros supported soft-on-crime measure, which voters passed last week by 59%! It reclassifies five different Felony crimes into Misdemeanors and was strongly opposed by almost every single law enforcement entity in our state!

Not only does Prop. 47 reduce the penalties for Heroin and Cocaine addicts/dealers, but those who possess the so-called date rape drug will also have more lenient sentences! Prop. 47 also goes soft on identity theft, which is California’s fastest growing crime!

This dangerous measure, which voters foolishly passed last Tuesday, has already resulted in hardened criminals being released from our Prisons and Jails!  If you couple this with Brown’s Prison realignment, it’s not unreasonable to conclude that crime rates in California will now soar and that the state will soon experience a public safety nightmare!

To make matters worse, disturbing reports out of the Sacramento area are revealing that dozens of firearms, including Military grade weaponry, have gone missing from many of the police departments up there! Read below!

These disturbing reports have prompted the San Diego Union Tribune to predict a new crime wave in our state!

Apparently, it wasn’t enough for the Libs to wreak havoc on our economy, dry up our job market, chase businesses out of our state, create dust bowls, and destroy our agricultural industry, but now they must also tamper with our public safety and put our families in danger too! No wonder folks are leaving this state in droves!

It would be nice if some of our GOP Reps out there would ring the alarm bells on this! Hopefully, we can get a repeal of this on the ballot for the next election cycle! Unfortunately by then, it will probably be too late for many California crime victims! Read below!

    Kelly,

From someone who works in the criminal justice field, here are some corrections to your piece:
    1) Prop. 47 doesn’t change the law on identity theft; it can still be prosecuted as a felony.
    2) Re drugs, possession for personal use is a straight misdemeanor; possession for sale/transportation for sale is a straight felony
    3) There’s nobody in prison for mere possession of date rape drugs. It’s a crime that never gets prosecuted. (Administering the drug is still a felony) Also, the biggest date rape drug of all, alcohol, is still legal.
    4) Relalignment (AB 109) has not resulted in any measureable increase in crime.

Rob, You are absolutely wrong and your assertions contradict the new law itself and the opinions of the CA Police Chiefs Association, which was a major opponent of Prop. 47!
Under this foolish soft on crime measure, fraud by the way of forgery, which is a common identity theft crime, is no longer a felony and is now a misdemeanor. That is a FACT! Second, regardless of whether its prosecuted or not, Possession of “rohypnol,” which is the substance that many predators use to incapacitate their victims in order to rape them, can now only be prosecuted as a misdemeanor now instead of a felony. Possession of Meth, Heroin, and Cocaine are to be prosecuted as Misdemeanors, which wasn’t the case before. Below, I’ve listed some other scary FACTS about this new dangerous soft on crime measure from the CA Police Chiefs Association. I also encourage Rob and others to read the article I’ve pasted in my piece. Law Enforcement has a very different take on this! Read below. Kelly

      Know the facts:

California law enforcement, business leaders and crime victim advocates oppose Proposition 47. Proposition 47 is a dangerous and radical package of ill-conceived policies wrapped in a poorly drafted initiative which will endanger Californians. The proponents of this dangerous initiative have already admitted that Proposition 47 will make ten thousand felons eligible for early release. According to independents analysis, the vast majority of those ten thousand felons have violent criminal histories.

Here is what Prop 47’s backers aren’t telling you:

*Prop 47 will require the release of thousands of dangerous inmates. Felons with prior convictions for armed robbery, kidnapping, carjacking, child abuse, residential burglary, arson, assault with a deadly weapon, and many other serious crimes will be eligible for early release under Prop 47. These early releases will be virtually mandated by Proposition 47. While Prop 47’s backers say judges will be able to keep dangerous offenders from being released early, this is simply not true. Prop 47 prevents judges from blocking the early release of prisoners except in very rare cases. For example, even if the judge finds that the inmate poses a risk of committing crimes like kidnapping, robbery, assault, spousal abuse, torture of small animals, carjacking or felonies committed on behalf of a criminal street gang, Proposition 47 requires their release.

*Prop 47 would eliminate automatic felony prosecution for stealing a gun. Under current law, stealing a gun is a felony, period. Prop 47 would redefine grand theft in such a way that theft of a firearm could only be considered a felony if the value of the gun is greater than $950. Almost all handguns (which are the most stolen kind of firearm) retail for well below $950. People don’t steal guns just so they can add to their gun collection. They steal guns to commit another crime. People stealing guns are protected under Proposition 47.

*Prop 47 undermines laws against sex-crimes. Proposition 47 will reduce the penalty for possession of drugs used to facilitate date-rape to a simple misdemeanor. No matter how many times the suspected sexual predator has been charged with possession of date-rape drugs, it will only be a misdemeanor, and the judge will be forced to sentence them as if it were their very first time in court.
Prop 47 will burden our criminal justice system. This measure will overcrowd jails with dangerous felons who should be in state prison and jam California’s courts with hearings to provide “Get Out of Prison Free” cards.
California has plenty of laws and programs that allow judges and prosecutors to keep first-time, low-level offenders out of jail if it is appropriate. Prop 47 would strip judges and prosecutors of that discretion. When a career criminal steals a firearm, or a suspected sexual predator possesses date rape drugs, or a carjacker steals yet another vehicle, there needs to be an option besides a misdemeanor slap on the wrist.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY – Deuteronomy 4:29-31 (NIV)

"But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey him. For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath." 3-7-16

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Donald Trump from”Crippled America” (Posted on 3-7-16)

"But then I realized I couldn't stand what I was seeing. I couldn't believe the hypocrisy and inaction of Washington 'insiders' who wanted to keep the gravy train flowing in their direction, while outside the beltway, Americans were suffering and they were rightfully angry about the lack of leadership and creativity. . . . It begins by creating millions of good jobs for hardworking Americans."
